if you do, you would have ministered to someone today and God will bless

God will bless

Several years ago, a preacher from a distant town accepted a call from a church in Leeds. Some weeks after his arrival, he had an appointment that made him to board a bus to another part of the town. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had mistakenly given him his balance in excess of 50 pence. As he considered what to do, he thought within him, ‘You’d better give this money back. It would be wrong to keep it’. Then another thought came, “Oh, forget it, it’s only 50p; who would worry about this little amount, afterall the bus company makes so much money on fares; they will never miss it. Accept it as ‘a gift from God’ and keep quiet. “When he was getting down from the bus, he paused momentarily at the door, and then handed the 50p to the driver and said, ‘Take; the balance you gave me was in excess’. The driver, with a smile, replied, ‘Aren’t you the new preacher in town?’ ‘Yes I am’, he replied. ‘Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about where to go to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you a balance in excess. I’ll worship with you at the church this Sunday. When the preacher stepped off the bus, he grabbed a nearby electric pole, looked up and said, ‘Oh God, I almost sold your Son for 50 pence!’. Our lifestyles are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is just a subtle example of how much people watch us as Christians, and will put us to test! Always be on guard — and remember — You carry the name of Christ on your forehead and shoulders, once you say you are a Christian. ‘Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny’. I’m glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder and I chose to forward it to you. If you don’t pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen to you; but, if you do, you would have ministered to someone today and God will bless

The Christmas Prelude festivities in the Kennebunkport area of Maine

We went to the Christmas Prelude festivities in the Kennebunkport area of Maine…we stayed in Wells as we usually do. We have been several times and each year we do some of the same things but then try something new and maybe skip something. A few times we have gone to the Fish chowder dinner at the Fire Station on Friday but not this time.

On our way up north on Friday we stopped to eat at Wild Willy’s Burgers outside of York, I had heard good things about them and we had always wanted to stop but it is usually really jamming. We hit their spot on the early end of supper so we timed it good, it was well worth it…the burger and fries were great and just the right amount of food as we did not want to feel overstuffed for we had planned on some evening activity.

We ended up being just a little late for the lighting of the lobster pot tree in Cape Porpoise but we stopped by to see it just the same. There is a picture here of Atlantic Hall and the Church on the Cape in the background, both of which we visited on Saturday for the craft show at the hall and bazaar at the church. We visited a few of the other local bazaar’s on Sat., one of our favorites is the Congregational Church in Arundel, we like their “cookie walk” and I love the fact that they have a very old pipe organ in there. I bought a recipe book from them that they printed from their church members, I tend to collect recipe books…I have many.

We went to the crazy hat parade in the Kennebunkport village on Sat afternoon. This year there seemed to be more people than we have ever seen attend, which is kind of good and bad. Last year, the weather was lousy…this year the weather could not have been any better for a December weekend.

After the parade, we ended up driving out to the Maine Diner for supper since things were just too crowded in the village (we did have a light snack earlier of corn chowder at the local school craft show). Saturday evening we attended the Christmas story/caroling event held at the Monastery, the tradition is to stroll down from the village area. Again, we have never seen so many people attend. Last year we did not go to the caroling event because the weather was not good and it is all outdoors.

The pictures here taken in the daytime were from Cape Porpoise, I walked down the road a bit to a bridge area while I was waiting for Mike to finish browsing.
